3 months agoPerfect for a short drive away from the city. You can enter and visit the gardens for 20 Ron / adult, for another 20 Ron you can visit the glass museum and the old Sasi museum. The glass one is part of the remaining pieces of the factory that was in the past in Avrig and was closed few years back. The second one it contains old artifacts collected from the region. Here you also have some costumes available if you want to try on and take pictures. The lady from the entrance gate is very knowledgeable and like a walking history book and so is the old man inside of the glass museum, which is an old employee of the factory. The Orangery terrace is lovely and quiet and the food was decent . I do recommend it for the particular relaxed atmosphere.

a month agoThis review is about the restaurant, which is far, far from the current rating of 4.2 (I would give it a zero star ⭐ if possible). After going there for a few years enjoying a wonderful service, food, experience, now things are exactly the opposite. We ordered food and socată drinks (very refreshing fizzy drink made of fresh soc flowers that ferment in time with lemon and sugar - we knew from the past socată is excellent there). The waiter (dressed in a varsity jacket instead of an appropriate waiter outfit), brought 3 glasses of warm water with some disgusting syrup in it and a little dirty slice of orange (you can literally see the dirt embedded in the orange skin). When asked, the waiter explained it was made of soc syrup and had the audacity to affirm it was "socată". I told them that was not socată and they should inform clients ahead of time that the drink was not an authentic socată and that it was made of syrup and not charge 21 lei for warm water with some sugary syrup. Told them I was not paying for that disgusting drink. They offered drinks on the house and apologized for food not arriving and let us know there would still be another 15min for our food (we had been waiting 20min at this point already since we ordered). We waited further and after a total of 40 min with no sign of food arriving we got up and left. Very poor and extremely disappointing service. Avoid by all means!

3 months agoUnbelievably disappointed—this could be one of the most romantic & beautiful places in Transylvania. Instead, it’s an overpriced ruin where absolutely nothing is maintained & the restaurant serves terrible (and expensive) food. The waiter had a very nonchalant attitude; it seems that we disturbed her. We didn’t stay for the night so we have no feedback for the hotels/rooms.

4 months agoUnfortunately this time was a great disappointment and waste of money paid for the entrance. I first discovered this beauty in 2019 when the garden was all in bloom and mentainted, the fountain in the middle clean and working. I wanted to revisit this beauty again this year again with high hopes. I had a very bad surprise the garden was not cared for, nothing was done to improve the state of the real palace up in hill, the fountain was broken, nothing was maintained and the scores to visit were 40 lei ??? For what??? Shame on the managers of this location. It could be a beauty!!

4 months agoIt could be one of the most beautiful touristic attractions, but the palace for the moment it's a ruin. It reminds me somehow of Schonbrung Palace (much smaller), but... Anyway, the park and the restaurant are nice and it is good to visit.
