Café Verona
…shares the address of 13 Arthur Verona Street* with the bookstore Cărturești. In fact, as many who have visited us have found, the café space is actually an annex to the bookshop. Here take place book launches, conferences, exhibitions, concerts and various events that enrich the cultural life of Bucharest.
Opened in 2009, a year after the bookstore opened, the Verona Garden is just a few steps away, on the same street, at number 15. This green haven in the city centre is also host to many events, the best known being Street Delivery. In summer, it’s the perfect place to cool off with a lemonade or a good beer in the shade of the abundant vegetation. There are only less than 400 seats at the tables and there’s a well-protected space from the elements. In the cold season, you can attend food fairs and enjoy a cup of tea or a cup of mulled wine.
The menu is varied, with vegetarian options always on offer. In the kitchen we focus on the quality of ingredients and their preparation. The bread is made right here according to our own recipes. And we take pride in our desserts!
Pets are allowed in the Verona Garden. If you want to contribute to cleaner air and more civilised traffic by bringing your bike, it’s good to know that there’s a special place where you can leave it. Wi-Fi is available if you want to move your office here.
*Arthur Verona is the name of a naturalized painter, descended from a noble family. There are a number of monumental buildings on Arthur Verona Street: Ion Mincu House (OAR), Dimitrie Sturdza House (Cărturești), Aro Block (Cinema Patria).
